Lights! Camera! Oscars!

Obviously last night there were many beautiful women at the Oscars. Scroll through the slide show to see a couple of my favourites. Details below!

Olivia Wilde wearing Valentino looking absolute adorable with Jason Sudeikis on the red carpet

Jenna Dewan Tatum wearing Reem Acra and it has a rockin post baby body to show off. The sheer t-shirt sleves along with the bead detail add beautiful elements to this dress.

Camila Alves wearing a Gabriela Cadena gown. I loved the structured shoulders and the cape seemed to be very in on the carpet this year although no two capes looked the same. It also doesn’t hurt that she went home with the best male actor of the year.

Kate Hudson wearing Atelier Versace with the cape detail looked stunning. Kate looks amazing no matter what she wears and Oscars 2014 was no different.

Sandra Bullock wearing Alexander McQueen. Sandra is not much of a risk taker but simple beauty is the best kind.

Lupita Nyong'o wearing Prada. This it girl is all about feeling beautiful did just that in the Nairobi inspired powder blue gown.

Jennifer Garner Oscar de la Renta. I immediately like an underdog that is why I included Jennifer garner. On the red carpet the fashion hosts were giving Jennifer a hard time about her dress, I thought she looked beautiful in this tiered fringe gown. If its good enough for Oscar its good enough for me.

Free or Cheap

Sorry about my usual Monday post being late. Family day for me was spent working at Mejuri on a soon-to-be published photo shoot of the jewelry. My friend Brittany was our model for the necklaces and earrings and I was the hand model ie. rings and bangles. I am wearing one of Mejuri's most famous pieces: the Zamrud ring. The link below takes you directly to the website.
'Zamrud Khatulistiwa' means 'Emerald of the Equator

My motto lately is free or cheap. My internship is unpaid (FREE LABOR) but they paid for my manicure for the shoot. I went skating on Sunday and today with my boyfriend at this beautiful outdoor rink (FREE SKATING).

Last Thursday I went out for dinner with some beautiful ladies from school. They introduced me to a Toronto event called Winterlicious. Participating restaurants serve a fixed menu for a discounted price (CHEAP DINNER). We went to Lil' Baci on Yonge Street.  I had the Sardinian Style Calamari, Pappardelle Cacciatore & Mud Pie for dessert. The chocolate Mud Pie was to die for. To be honest I would have dessert for every meal if it wasn’t socially frowned upon.

I highly recommend finding affordable ways to have fun, it can avoid future stress.

First Day of my Internship

If you like exchanging fashion tips from people all over the world, check out the style chat put on by Style Caster. From the chat I participated in on twitter last Wednesday, I got lots of ideas for what I should wear on my first day at my new internship. Pencil skirt was the number one suggestion. I had to go with what makes me comfortable. I am wearing a blazer from RW & co, pants from Old Navy, Michael Kors belt and Coach Leather bag. The shoes, as stylish as booties are, I have yet to find a pair I love so I borrowed this pair from my roommate, Taylor, who is a Godsend.

Well, I made it through my first day of my internship. I will be working with 4 other girls in an office dominated by men (so that should be fun). I am doing an internship at Mejuri. It is an online retailer that creates one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces designed by those who submit their ideas and have won a majority vote.

There are creative people all over the world so if you are interested in submitting a design to Mejuri please feel free to contact me at erika@mejuri.com. I would love to give you more information.

Intro

Forever waiting for summer
But for now…Oh Canada [Source]

Welcome Welcome

My Name is Erika. I am from Toronto, Ontario. I am in the Fashion Management and Promotions program at a local college. I do believe the right outfit can make or break a night. Clothes can lead to confidence (despite recently reading that people who sleep naked wake up feeling more confident).

Welcome to my public diary/lifestyle blog. I have been told when I write an essay, it usually comes out sounding like a conversation, for this reason I think I will be good at blog writing. I don’t have a specific topic because life doesn’t usually feel like it has a plan so why should my blog. Once a month I am going to research a country that I want to visit titled e-travel. The first country I am going to start off blogging about is Vietnam, followed by Cambodia, Laos and India. I am starting to plan a trip with my boyfriend and I want to learn, so you can learn right along with me. I am lucky to be working with a woman who drops everything to travel. She is inspiring.

Current soundtrack to my life is Beyonce’s newest CD and yet another inspiration to travel (watch the Blue video, Brazil look beautiful).

Posts to come because of things I love:
